Abigail “Abi” Megan Tooker

Abigail (Abi) Megan Tooker, 32, died unexpectedly December 06, 2021, from complications related to cancer at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. She was born in Derby, Connecticut on December 30, 1988, the daughter of Anne (Connor) Tooker and Robert Tooker.

Abigail graduated from Naugatuck High School, Class of 2007. She continued her education at SCSU graduating with a BA. In furthering her education she attended Goodwin College School of Nursing, graduating in 2017 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. She continued to pursue her nursing degree by attending Southern New Hampshire University graduating Summa Cum Laude with her BSN. Abigail was currently working toward her Masters Degree in Nursing Education.

After passing the NCLEX and obtaining her RN license Abigail accepted a position at George Washington University Hospital in Washington DC. This prompted her move to Arlington in 2018. She left GWUH and took a position at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital in the mother/baby unit in December 2019. It was here at Georgetown University Hospital where her love for her job and her nursing career flourished. Abigail participated on the Perinatal Council, was the facilitator for the New Grad Nurse Residency Program, was a member of AWHONN, mentored new nurses and supported her unit, coworkers and hospital. Besides her love for her patients, Abigail loved and was loved by her friends, her coworkers, her physicians and everyone she came in contact with. A bright spot in anyones day, Abigail was always thinking of everyone but herself. Her joy for life was infectious. She touched so many lives in many positive, uplifting ways. Her outgoing selfless nature along with her pure joy for each and every moment of life is what endeared her to the many people she had contact with over the years. She was a swimmer from the time she was 9 years old until her first year in college. Winning many meets and earning 6th place in her division in CT. Her interests also included gardening, shopping, dining out from mom & pops to Michelin Stars, baking, riding her bike, adventures with her mom, trips to museums and walks around DC and the monuments. Spending time with her mom and her friends offering support and encouragement was most important for Abigail. She fought hard to win a battle that was near impossible with perseverance and determination that was unmatched. In the end there was no drawn out suffering only peace.

Abigail is predeceased by her brother Matthew Aaron Tooker. Survived by her mother Anne (Connor) Tooker of Arlington, her sisters Amanda Tooker Ryan and Melissa Tooker and her father Robert Tooker.

Abigail loved her flowers and her balcony garden. She also loved helping people. I know many of you will want to send flowers. A Celebration of Life service with be held Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 3 pm with visitation at 2 pm at the Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria VA 22314.
