Andrew Stephen Duet Jr.

Andrew Stephen Duet, Jr. , age 67, beloved husband of Sandra E. Duet, died on Sunday August 18, 2022, at 7:50 a.m. Andy was born on August 26, 1955, and lived in St. Charles Parish for over 50 years before moving to Alexandria VA. “Andy” was a proud alumnus of Hahnville High. He also attended Nichols State University majoring in journalism and studied to be a paralegal. His passions included playing drums in a local jazz band, photography and the New Orleans Saints.

During his career he owned a photography studio in Luling, worked as a stringer for UPI, a reporter for the Times Picayune and a reporter for several local newspapers. He received a prestigious award from the New Orleans Press Club for his photojournalism. Mr. Duet arrived on the scene and took photos of a plane crash minutes after it occurred upon takeoff at Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans.

Mr. Duet was predeceased by his parents Andrew S. Duet, Sr. and Margaret T. Duet as well as his half-brother Robert E. Worthington.

Visitation will be held Thursday January 5, 2022, from 3:30pm to 7:30 pm at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. Burial service will be held at the St. Charles Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1279 Paul Mallard Road, Luling, LA 70070 on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
