Audrey [Jean] Kailing, 88, of Alexandria, VA passed with peace and grace on September 21, 2022 at
Mount Vernon Rehabilitation. She was one of twelve children born January 1, 1934, in Vanderbilt, PA to
Charles and Ethel [Morris] Hillen. Predeceased by her loving husband Paul Maxwell Kailing Sr. in 1998.
Jean is survived by her son Paul [Skip] and his wife Rebecca [Becky] Kailing of York, PA; daughter
Vena [Dee-Dee] Jeffers of Alexandria, VA; sister Eileen [Nix] Keanon of Unionville, VA and brother
Morris [Moe] Hillen of Ohio. Jean was also a very proud and loving grandmother to six (6) grandchildren:
Laura, Michael, Rosie, Billy, Kayla, and Della; fifteen great-grandchildren and six great-great
grandchildren. Jean was loved by many nephews, nieces, and their families.
Jean lived a full life and did everything with love, meaning and purpose. It was with strong values that
she put all her heart and energies into raising and caring for her family and beloved 4-legged partner in
crime, Alex. She always opened her home to everyone; her kitchen was never closed. Jean had a
tenacity, which meant she could do anything she set her mind to. Never tell her she could not do
something because she was set on proving you wrong. She was always there to offer a listening ear,
many words of wisdom and her advice if you were willing to accept it. It was with the little twitch of her
nose and twinkle in her eyes that you knew you were loved unconditionally by her.
Please join us in celebrating her life and love Saturday, October 1, 2022. Services will be between 10am
and 2pm at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron St. Alexandria, VA, followed by a burial
service at National Memorial Park Cemetery, Falls Church, VA. Flowers may be sent to the Funeral
home. The family invites you to join them at her home, 8316 Frye Road for light refreshments following services.
