Brigitte Juengel Strong died at her home in Springfield, Virginia on May 19, 2011 from complications of Parkinson?s Plus. She was born in Rochester, New York on February 8, 1933. In the late 1930’s she moved with her family to Berlin, Germany. Brigitte, with her mother and sister, Margrid, returned to Rochester, in 1946. Brigitte graduated from Monroe High School and later the Rochester School of Practical Nursing. She enjoyed working in the newborn nursery at Genesee Hospital and later the Park Avenue Hospital. She married in 1954 and was a stay at home Mom until she returned to nursing as a Respite Care Giver in Rochester. She came to Springfield Virginia in 1976 and continued Respite Care giving, worked for a time as a dental assistant, and after retiring, volunteered at the Kingstowne Branch of the Fairfax County Public Library. Her grandson, Michael Zebuhr and sister, Margrid Thompson predeceased her. She is survived by her husband John, her children Suzanne and her husband Douglas, Cynthia, Stephen and his wife Carla and grandchildren Laura, Andrew, Elise, Reed, Ryan, Holden and two step grandchildren, Taylor and Neva. There will be a memorial service at St. Andrew?s Episcopal Church 6509 Sydenstricker Road, Burke, Virginia 22015 on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 11 AM. The service will be followed by a reception at the church hall. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Capital Hospice, 6565 Arlington Blvd, Suite 501, Falls Church, Virginia 22042 or other charity.
