Carole Lilian Hutcherson

Carole Lilian Hutcherson, 82, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 26th, 2020. She is predeceased by her parents Albert and Ella Dixon, brothers Albert and Geoff and her beloved husband John Hutcherson. Carole ascended to Heaven surrounded by many loved ones in her final moments, including several of her children and all of her eight grandchildren. Carole is survived and deeply loved by her sister Jeannette Colley, children Anita Hutcherson, Andrew Hutcherson, Jason Gardiner and Lynn Sutton, and grandchildren Shawn Sutton, Chaz Sutton, Elizah Hutcherson, Sydney Hutcherson, Janeisia Gardiner, Wesley Hutcherson, Isaiah Gardiner and Blake Hutcherson, as well as many nieces and nephews, stepchildren, extended family and friends.

Born in 1937 in Kingston, England, Carole survived World War II and completed a technical college for seamstressing in London. Carole met and fell in love with John Hutcherson, an American Air Force airman and trombone player, in her early 20s. She came to the United States in 1960 and began raising her family with John. John and Carole traveled to various duty stations, including Nebraska and Germany, and eventually settled in Philadelphia. In addition to being a mother, Carole worked over a period of forty years as a restaurant server, retail salesperson, and factory worker.

Carole was extremely witty and loved all things British. She loved road trips, plants and flowers, knitting, shopping, songs by Tom Jones and Publisher’s Clearinghouse. Carole loved her family dearly; she was always sending off a letter or a small gift to her children and grandchildren, or on the phone catching up with her many friends and family. Her grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy, and she made sure they all knew she loved them deeply.

A Celebration of Life and internment for Carole will be held in the Spring of 2021 at Northwood Cemetery, 1501 Haines Street, Philadelphia PA (subject to COVID restrictions), where Carole will be laid to rest for eternity with her husband John.
