On December 26, 2024, Cedric Stephen Todmann Jr., affectionately known as ‘Steve,’ transitioned from this life at the age of 61 at Adventist White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Born on April 8, 1963, at Harlem Hospital in New York City, Steve was the second child of Thelma (née Brown) and Cedric Todmann. He was lovingly raised by his mother and grandmother, Rosa Lee Brown, in a home filled with love and resilience.
From a young age, Steve’s bright mind and creativity were evident. Though his energy and spirit often challenged his teachers and family, and led him down unique paths, his intelligence and talents shone brightly. At 19, Steve chose to serve his country, enlisting in the Army and later the Marine Corps. Over seven years, he proudly wore the uniform, a testament to his strength and dedication.
After completing his military service, Steve pursued his passion for music in California, showcasing his talent as a gifted bassist and multi-instrumentalist. His musical journey, fearlessness, and ability to adapt to any environment took him across stages and continents, eventually leading him to Germany, where he built a new life. Steve’s time in Germany brought him his greatest blessing—his beloved son, David, now 26, a dedicated police officer and the reflection of his father’s love and determination.
Steve was a man of many gifts. A musician, singer, artist, athlete, marksman, security specialist, and mechanic. He embraced life with passion and creativity. He was fluent in German, had the ‘gift-of-gab, and could light up a room with his humor. Steve had the ability to connect with anyone through his sharp wit and insight. His presence was as unforgettable as his laughter, leaving cherished memories with those who loved him.
Though his life’s path was not without challenges, Steve’s strength, love for his family, and sensitivity to life’s injustices revealed the depth of his character. He was a man who lived on his own terms, never afraid to confront the world or challenge others to think differently.
Steve leaves behind a legacy of love, talent, and resilience. He is survived by his son, David; his mother, Thelma; his sister, Deborah; his brother, Bruce; his nephew, Brian; his nieces, Jasmine and Indago; sisters-in-law Carmen and Monica; and many cousins, friends, and loved ones. His baby brother, Robert, will greet him on his final journey.
A homegoing celebration will take place on January 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home in Alexandria, Virginia. Steve will be laid to rest with military honors at Quantico National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m., a final tribute to his service to this nation.
Steve’s journey may have ended here, but his spirit lives on through his family, his music, and the countless memories he created. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
