Constance Connie Cowles Bertron of Alexandria, VA, was born October 15, 1951, into a Military family at Ft. Leavenworth, KS; lived in 15 communities from Honolulu to Heidelberg; graduated with undergrad and graduate degrees from University of Virginia; and worked, raised her family, and died January, 17, 2017, in Alexandria, where she lived most of her years.Connie is survived by her only daughter, Katharine Kate E. Bertron of Alexandria; her brother, Don Cowles and his wife, Jane, of Richmond, VA; niece, Lindsay Cowles Arrington and her husband, Thomas, and son, Ford of Richmond, VA; and niece, Katy Cowles of Atlanta, GA.Across the years, Connie was grateful for her special friends—Debbie Dewey, beginning in her high school years in Frankfurt, Germany, Gayla Crabrtree and Lane Napoli, all committed Nationals baseball fans; the veterinarians and staff of Fort Hunt and Hollin Hall Animal Hospitals, where she worked; the dog lovers of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, USA; and her many dog and cat companions with whom she “whispered”.Connie fought cancer with amazing resilience for many years. To this day, she inspires those who knew her well.Funeral services will be private. Please share your remembrances here. Family and friends will gather at a later date.
