Constance G Flinchum

Constance G. Flinchum, of Alexandria, VIrginia, survived by her only beloved daughter, Kimberleigh D. Flinchum, her stepson James D.L. Flinchum and his wife Petra, her sister Betty, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years. James E. Flinchum, her sister, Virginia, and her brothers, Frederick, Russell and Billy. After her retirement from her career in the Dept. of Defense, Connie pursued genealogical research, was a recreational tap dancer, and was a very active member in the Mary Custis Lee ? 17th Virginia Regiment, Chapter number 7 of the UDC. Constance was an inveterate expert at the art of crochet, and received special recognition for making hundreds of hats for the Head Start program, items for hospital infants and lap robes for veterans. Constance was, throughout her life, source of joy and steady comfort to her family, a firm and steadfast friend to many and most importantly, a wonderful mother. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA where a visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday July 6th with funeral services to be held on at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Quantico National Cemetery.
