David Kraftt Yancey, age 80, of Alexandria & Buckingham, passed away unexpectedly due to heart complications, on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, in Louisa County, VA. He was the youngest of 2 born to Thomas VanDervurse & Grace Katherine (Bender) Yancey and grew up in Alexandria.

He retired from TJ Fannons after 45 ½ years. He delivered oil & serviced in HVAC. Before then, he worked as a mechanic, tow truck driver, volunteer first responder, and in other areas. He had a few hobbies including hunting & racing (in his younger days), etc., and usually had a story to tell for just about everything.

He leaves behind his daughter, Nadine & son-in-law Peter Grinnell; His grandson, Merlin Jason Yancey; 2 sisters-in-law, Jane (Stan) Kesler & family in Texas & Margie (Cary) Steele in Florida & their surviving son, Alan in Virginia; 2 nephews, Tom (Judy) & Sean (Bobbie) Delach & family; along with numerous cousins, friends, and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Nelda (Wood) Yancey; his father, Thomas; his mother, Grace; his sister, Sheila Hunter, his niece Wanda Kesler; his nephew John Steele; and several aunts, uncles & cousins.
