George Felix Hibner passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024 at the Greenspring Retirement Community in Springfield, VA. George will be missed greatly by family, friends and care-givers. George was born May 30, 1928 in Chicago, IL to Janina Ramouldo Lisiecki Hibner and Valery Bronizlaw Hibner. George was a devoted husband to Angelina “Catherine” Marino Hibner for seventy years. Catherine proceeded him in death on April 11, 2020. George and Catherine were blessed with four children: son Edward preceded George in death, three daughters survive: Wanda Cable, Christina Wickham and Jeanne Bapov. Living spouses – partners of George’s children include Jesse, John, Joseph Velarde, Paul Wickham, Andrea, Lauren, Amy, and Natalie. Also surviving are George’s great grandchildren: Georgia, Rachel, Hope, Bear, Joel, Hunter, Mavery, Ray, Danny and nephew Shawn Downs. George was a US Air Force veteran who served during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge, George secured employment with Melpar now a division of Raytheon and retired after fifty-five years in the technological engineering industry. George and Catherine liked Big Band Era music, dancing, and singing. George enjoyed playing both trumpet and harmonica. Upon retirement, George and Catherine traveled extensively throughout the US and Europe. They also delighted in singing and performing with the “Merry Makers”. George will be interred at the Ivy Hill Cemetery in Alexandria, Virginia.
