Gregory Dean Kelley

Gregory Dean Kelley entered this world on November 7, 1966, in Yakima, Washington, to the late Franklin Junior Kelley and Carolyn Kardack Kelley. He received his education in Yakima, WA and later relocated to Alexandria, VA where he met his soul mate of almost 20 years, Deborah. When the time came for him to leave this world on August 3, 2024, he did so surrounded by the warmth and love of those who cherished him.

While some may see his life as simple, those who knew Greg recognized the profound impact he had on everyone around him. A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, he proudly wore T-shirts and sweatshirts that expressed his faith, letting the world know that he belonged to Jesus Christ. One of his favorites was his John 3:16 sweatshirt, which he had in many colors.

Greg dedicated his life to sharing the Gospel and helping those in need. His presence on the internet, particularly on Facebook, provided hope and comfort, filled with heartfelt prayers and messages that touched countless lives across the globe. He had many friends on social media.

Before his passing, Greg discovered a passion for Christian podcasting on YouTube, where he and his wife collaborated with other Christian podcasters to share their faith. He also loved playing Star Trek games, connecting with fellow online gamers and spreading kindness and encouragement within the online gaming community, which became like family to him.

Even when faced with illness, Greg remained a source of inspiration for many. He touched the hearts of hundreds, including those who had never met him but felt his loving spirit.

On August 4, 2024, an online Star Trek tribute and memorial service was held in his honor, gathering over 600 people. They created beautiful artwork in the shape of a cross and his initials to celebrate his life. The overwhelming support and shared stories showcased just how deeply he was loved by his online gaming friends. The turnout was so great that additional systems had to be set up to accommodate everyone who wished to pay their respects. Pastor David Boyle of the online Star Trek gaming community honored Greg with a touching message during the event.

His wrestling buddy, Ric Lieb, along with Evangelist Alice Saunders and Pastors Melvin Boone and Danny Morris, rallied prayers for Greg, as did many prayer warriors, churches, and ministries across the country. As a member of the Facebook group called Reversals-Ileostomy/Colostomy Reversal Discussion and Support, Greg received an outpouring of love, with over 500 members pledging to pray for him during his hospitalization and many others expressing their condolences after his passing.

Greg was known for his caring heart, always ready to listen and support those he loved. His wife, Deborah, will forever cherish how he looked beyond appearances to find the beauty in everyone, always ready to forgive and extend love. Greg's love for pets extended from his hundreds of little fish to his two four-legged fur babies. His passion for writing poetry always conveyed a message and found a way to minister to those needing encouragement. In the past, he also organized several charitable projects and founded a charitable organization called Feed the Petz Inc. for local folks and pets in need, leaving a positive mark on the community.

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and a deep commitment to serving others. Although he has left this world, his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.

It’s not goodbye; it’s see you again.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah; two daughters; one son; fourteen grandchildren; two beloved pets; his mother-in-law, Helen; two uncles; two aunts; many relatives; his Star Trek "in-game" family in the USAF; friends he made at local stores where he shopped regularly; and countless online friends.
