Harriett Weidenthal

Harriett Lawrence Jarvis Weidenthal of Alexandria, Virginia passed away on July 26, 2018. Harriett was born on October 8, 1933 in Yonkers, NY to the late Embree and Dorothy Jarvis. She graduated from Gorton High School in Yonkers and from Southern Seminary and Junior College in Buena Vista, Virginia. She was married to Carlton P. Weidenthal on April 17, 1954 in Yonkers.

Harriett was the quintessential Army wife supporting her husband in his career and her children through many relocations stateside and overseas.  She had a passion for entertaining and was known for her grace and charm. Harriett was a loving wife, a devoted mother, an uplifting friend to many, and will be sorely missed.

Harriett was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Brigadier General (retired) Carlton P. Weidenthal and by her cherished sister, Nancy Jarvis Posey.

Harriett is survived by her three children, Kurt Weidenthal II (Susan) of Madison, AL; Corinne Weidenthal (David Smith) of Alexandria, VA; and Carol Weidenthal of Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Katrina Mathias (Dustin) of Madison, AL; Kurt Weidenthal III of Birmingham, AL, Brandy Weidenthal of Ocala, FL; Derek Weidenthal (Caitlin) of Bisbee, AZ; Chad Smith of Durham, NC; two great-grandchildren, Skylar and Lyra; nephew Ted Posey  of Gardendale, AL (Peggy); and her sister-in-law, Carol Boyd of Cleveland, OH.

She will be interred at the Arlington National Cemetery following a memorial service at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made to Capital Caring, Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center, 4715 15th Street North, Arlington, VA 22205 or www.capitalcaring.org, which is a hospice and palliative care organization that cared so compassionately for her and her family.
