Janet Johnstone Nigon born October 27, 1919 in Nabnasset, MA died peacefully at Erickson Senior Living, Springfield, Virginia on September 25, 2018 just short of her 99th birthday. Janet moved to the DC area in the early 40’s to work as a government secretary. She married Joseph Nigon in 1943. At age 75 she retired from the “perfect job” having worked at Catholic University in the Department of Modern Languages for over 30 years. Following her retirement, she enjoyed water aerobics at the Olney community pool, gardening and the Olney Garden Club, bowling and volunteering at Olney Memorial Hospital. She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years. She is survived by sons Richard (Lea) Nigon of Sterling VA, Kenneth (Maroush) Nigon of Radnor, PA; daughters Patricia (Wesley) Parks of Wilkes-Barre, PA and Peggy Nigon of Alexandria VA; grandsons Philip (Alidz), Garen (Timothy Griffiths), and Christopher (Rana); great-grandson Zaven; sister Anne Johnstone of Westford MA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Services will be held at The Episcopal Church of Saint Clement, 1701 N. Quaker Lane, in Alexandria, VA on October 6 at 10 am followed by a reception at the church. Interment will be the same day at 2pm at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Ave., in Silver Spring MD. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Catholic University of America, Attn: Fred Salancy, Assistant Dean for Advancement, Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, Drama and Art, 620 Michigan Ave, Ward Hall 129, Washington, DC 20064 with a note directing it to the Drama Department in memory of Janet Nigon.
