Joe Shifflett

On June 10, 2007 at his home in Alexandria, VA. Husband of Mary L. Shifflett, father of Anita “Jo Jo” Shifflett, Mary Belinda Johns, Ivon Powers, Eartle Brooks and Frankie Brooks, brother of Elsie Cameron, Avis Franklin, Goldie Booth, Mervin Shifflett and Delmar Shifflett. Joe Shifflett arrived in Alexandria from his home in Bacon Hollow, VA when he was 21 years old. He met and married his wife and raised his children in Alexandria, VA. Joe Shifflett founded and was president of Joe Shifflett, Inc. for 40 years. Joe Shifflett, Inc. grew from a small business to a large company that performs contracts for national corporations such as Starbuck’s, Chevy’s, Marriott and Commerce Bank. In the 1980’s, his company corrected a humidity airflow problem for the National Archives. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 from 7-9 PM at Cunningham Funeral Home, 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM at Engleside Baptist Church, 8428 Highland Lane, Alexandria, VA. Interment will be held in Pembroke, NC. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Engleside Baptist Church.
