John Lesch, 60, of Chantilly, VA died peacefully at home Wednesday morning, May 1, after a hard fought battle with cancer. His wife and children were with him. John came to Virginia from Albany, NY in 1984 to work for IBM. Throughout his working career he was a software engineer who worked in a multitude of positions within the IT industry.
John loved baseball – totally and completely. An avid aficionado of the game he loved the NY Yankees, playing, and coaching. For the last 20 years John was on a little league field either as a parent, coach, CYA Little League Board member, or general volunteer. If you ever wanted to know where he was and could not find him, you had to look no further than the baseball field. Over the years he coached and taught many youngsters life’s lessons through baseball.
John is survived by his wife of 30 years, Leslie Lesch; children Wendy Polsinelli, Patrick Lesch, and Timothy Lesch; son-in-law Mike Polsinelli; and grandson Bryce Polsinelli.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 11am at Congregation Beth Emeth, 12523 Lawyers Road, Herndon, VA 20151. Shiva minyanim will be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 7:30p and Thursday, May 9 at 7:30pm at the Lesch home.
The family requests that donations in John’s memory be made to support Reed Morgan, a young member of the CYA baseball family, in his fight against bone cancer. Donations can be made via a GoFundMe page located at https://www.gofundme.com/help-reed-morgan-strike-out-cancer.
