I am deeply saddened by the passing of my darling wife, Joyce, on 12 December 2016 in the trauma center of George Washington University Hospital as a result of injuries sustained when she fell down our basement steps on 7 December.Joyce was born on 8 June 1934 in Alexandria, Virginia where she lived until age 16 when she married Richard Strong who was serving in the US Army. During her marriage to Richard she lived in and travelled to a number of states and countries, including Turkey and Japan. After a separation and divorce from Richard, Joyce worked in several departments of the US Government in the Washington D C area and in 1984 retired from the Department of Health Education and Welfare where she was employed as a program analyst.Joyce remarried to retired Army Colonel Frederick C Clinton in 1976 and continued to live with him in Alexandria, Virginia.During her marriage to Colonel Clinton she travelled extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Joyce was an avid gardener and won the Alexandria, Virginia beautification award several times. Her main interest was her family and was devoted to each and every one of them. She is survived by her husband Frederick, 4 daughters and 1 son. Another son unfortunately passed away in 2014. She is also survived by fourteen 14 grandchildren and six 6 great-grandchildren.Family and friends will be received on 29 December 2016 at 11 AM at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 811 Cameron St, Alexandria, Virginia for a viewing and celebration of her life.
