On February 3, 2011 at Specialty Hospital of Washington. Louis of Alexandria, VA is preceded in death by his parents, George Covert and Clara Kiesler Beach, siblings; Mary Catherine Beach, Julia and Arthur Bierman, Jr. and Herman and Mary Beach. Louis is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virginia A. Beach, children; Andrew Beach of Dallas, TX, Ann Marie Telepak Chris of Dayton, OH, Ruth Patel Jamie of Annandale, Virginia and Covert Beach of Alexandria, VA, grandchildren; Laura and Adam Telepak and Michael and Daniel Patel, Siblings; Robert Anne of Naples, FL, William Juanita of Floyd Knobs, IN and Kathleen Kruer Roy of Greenville, IN. Louis had a PhD in Nuclear Physics from Indiana University. He retired after 36 years from the Naval Research Laboratory. He was a World War II Veteran 1944-1946. His military metals included the Victory Metal, American Theater Ribbon, European, African and Middle Eastern Ribbon and a Good Conduct Metal. Louis assisted in test firing V-2 rockets at White Sands Proving Grounds. Louis was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus ? Faithful Navigator. He was a son of the American Revolution, president of the George Washington Chapter. He was active at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. There he was the treasurer of Housing and Family Services. He was also an usher and a religious education teacher. There will be a visitation and celebration of Louis? life on Monday, February 7, 2011 at Cunningham Funeral Home, 811 Cameron St. Alexandria, VA from 5-8 PM. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8710 Mount Vernon Hwy, Alexandria, VA at 11 AM with the reception to follow. The interment will follow at Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Relief Services, PO Box 17090, Baltimore, MD 21203-7090 or crs.org/donate.
