Ludmilla A. Jamieson

Ludmilla A. Jamieson “Ludy”,100 years old, died peacefully of natural causes on February 09, 2019 in Falls Church Virgina at Goodwin House (Bailey’s Crossroads) after a long and fulfilling life. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 03, 1919 to Russian born parents Alexis G. Kniazev and Regina K. Plavsky . For the last 59 years of her life she lived in Alexandria Virginia.

Predeceased by her husband Mitchell Jamieson, mother Regina K. Plavsky and brother Igor A. Kniazev, Ludmilla “Ludy” is survived by her son Craig L. Jamieson, niece Nancy Jamieson McGuire and nephew Ballard “Jim” Jamieson Jr. Ludy studied ballet as a young woman and worked for the United States Department of War as a secretary during World War II. After falling in love with accomplished artist Mitchell Jamieson who served during the war as a U.S. Naval combat artist/officer and later became a professor of art at the University of Maryland, they married in May 1946. After her son Craig was born in 1959 they moved to Alexandria Va. in 1960 to raise a family. She was a devoted and loving homemaker.

Ludy loved living in Alexandria and enjoyed ballet, classical music, reading novels, gardening, contributing to her favorite charities and going to art exhibitions. She made friends easily with her honest kindness, generosity and disarming gentle nature. She will be missed by the many who knew and loved her. Her greatest joy was her selfless devotion to taking care of her family and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Cancer Research Institute in New York, NY in her name.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 9, at 2:00 p.m. in the “Chapel of All Saints” at Goodwin House (Bailey’s Crossroads).
