Marta Leticia Fernandini Almenara

My dear and beloved Mother Marta Leticia Fernandini Almenara passed away on September 24 at the age of 91 due to Alzheimer’s disease, two days before her birthday. I cannot describe the pain and the great void that her departure left in me. A little piece of my heart went with her; she will surely be in heaven celebrating next to my dearest Father Jaime Aníbal Betalleluz F. and her mother, Laura Almenara, who died when she was barely 17 years old. She always told me how difficult and traumatic it was for her to lose her mother. It was then that my aunt Laura, her unconditional sister, was the one who took care of her, protected her, and educated her. My mother and my aunt Laura had a very nice relationship; they were always united until the day she died. My grandfather married his stepmother, Eva, and they had my uncle Panchito (Francisco Fernandini), my grandmother Eva was adorable with my mother, she treated and welcomed her as her blood daughter, and she never made differences between my uncle Panchito. She took care of her and loved her very much, always strengthening the ties between all of them. She was like a second mother to her. I had the opportunity to meet her and get close to her; she was always very affectionate and sweet with us and made us very happy. My Mom survived her brothers Francisco and Laura who are now in heaven with her.
She studied and prepared to be a soprano at Bellas Artes in Lima Perú and she stood out as a soprano, singing in the theaters of Lima and at weddings, she loved singing Ave María by Frank Schubert.
Years later she met my beloved Father, they fell in love and got married, they were a solid and very united couple, and both always gave us the best studies, attention and financial support. She was a very active person and her hobbies were reading poems, cooking Peruvian and Italian food. She liked to make dresses and clothes for us and my dolls.
My wonderful Mother was always very sweet, selfless, hardworking and protective until Alzheimer’s disease made her sick to the point where she didn’t recognize me.
It was very difficult for me to accept her absence and learn methods to help her cope with this terrible condition that she suffered from. I had the opportunity to give her the best care I could, and I did it with a lot of affection and love like she gave me since I was a baby.
Your absence will not be easy for me, but I know that today she rests in peace and is in the arms of her beloved Mother, my grandmother Laura, my Dad and my aunt Laurita whom she always misses.
Rest in peace my beautiful Mother. May God have you in his glory!
“My parents were my best teachers and they will always be the pillar and foundation that will guide my life”
You will always be present in our hearts; we love you and will miss you very much your dear Maria Laura, your son-in-law Oswaldo and your granddaughter Vanessa.
Thank you God for allowing me to care for and enjoy my Mother in life!
