Morton J. Fromer

Morton Fromer, 88, of McLean,Virgnia and resident at The Regency for 40 years, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2018.

Mort was born on March 2, 1930, in Syracuse, NY to Isidore and Fannie Fromer. He was the 5th of six children and the last  remaining sibling.  He studied biology at Syracuse University where he earned his Bachelors degree in Science. After college, he served in the U. S. Army as a research assistant at the Army Medical Research Laboratories in the fields of bacteriology and biochemistry.  He had a 41-year career in the federal government, including serving as an inspector and consumer safety officer within the Bureau of Drugs of the Department of Agriculture, and its successor agency, the Food and Drug Administration, where he served in a variety of roles, including the Office of Legislative Affairs and as an Assistant to the Commissioner.

Mort was a planner and a thinker, who loved philosophy and the science of how things worked.  He was always a good listener and a great story teller. His hobbies were to fish, take long walks, reading and classical music.  Mort was thoughtful, trustworthy, and he knew how to make his own happiness, but above all else he loved his family.

Mort is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 38 years, Anne, four children, and 12 grandchildren who loved him.
