Nancy Thomas Stutzman, age 94, of Annandale, Virginia, passed away on July 11, 2024, peacefully in her sleep at Paramount Senior Living Facility where she was known as “fancy Nancy.” Nancy grew up in Del Ray, a small suburb of Alexandria, Virginia where she started her firecracker life in high school, skipping school to see Sammy Davis, Jr perform. Nancy was an independent woman who lived her life always on the go. Nancy was a long time contributor to the Kennedy Center and went to as many plays and shows as her bus schedule would allow. Nancy also enjoyed going on cruises, often leaving from Franklin, VA with large tour groups lead by “Go with Gaynelle.” She was an outspoken fan of Neil Diamond, bringing home a new t-shirt from each concert, her most recent with her granddaughter Christine, as well as a Washington Redskins fan, with memorabilia scattered throughout her home. Nancy was a breast cancer survivor and contributed to the cause through donations and participating in many events over the years. She was frequently sporting her pink to show her support.
Nancy was retired from the U.S. Pentagon where she worked for several decades as a secretary. She was a dedicated employee and thoroughly enjoyed her work.
Nancy was preceded in death by her son, Michael Stutzman (Joann), and survived by family including her daughter, Pamela Kamenski; sister Rosie Thomas; grandchildren Christine and Megan (Matthew), EJ, and Jenna; great grandchildren Madeline (Chris), Tyler (Ashley), Grace, Bryson, Ben; great-great-grandchild Jesse.
A funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock on July 22 at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home in Alexandria, VA followed by a graveside service at 1 o’clock at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org.
