BRAMWELL, Neil David, 88, of Arlington, VA and New York, NY passed away peacefully on September 30, 2020. Neil, technically an orphan, had a great loving family of his own. He was a proud graduate of Columbia College and Fordham Law School and his distinguished legal career included Tishman Realty, Union Carbide, and New York Life Insurance Company. After retiring from the law, Neil was a pioneer of interactive education, specifically authoring presidential biographies designed for children, as well as mystery novels, including “Sam’s Legacy,” a semi-autobiographical fictional work.
Neil is survived by his children Adam Bramwell and Margaret Doyle; daughter-in-law, Laurie Syms Bramwell; son-in-law, David Doyle; grandchildren, Patrick, Christopher, and Katharine Doyle; and former spouses Pat Hall and Bess Nicholas. He is also survived by his family of adored friends, including John M. Barry and Anne Sullivan Barry; Carol Gelderman; Paul and Janet Haebler; John, Megan, & Grace Pickel; and George and Barbara Symborski who all Neil knew appreciated his dinner parties and “dressing for dinner.”
In lieu of flowers, and as you wish, the family asks that donations be made to Toys for Tots, as it was Neil’s profound belief that all children should be able to enjoy the magic of the holiday season. Due to Covid-19 restrictions and the safety of Neil’s family and friends, there will be a memorial videoconference, with details provided soon. Let the record reflect that Neil still had “dial-up” internet access and he would certainly scoff at a videoconference; however, he would appreciate the family receiving condolences and expressions of support during this difficult time.
