Nidal Mashhur Ittayem

Nidal Mashhur Ittayem was born December 6, 1985 in Washington, D.C. and passed away peacefully on June 27, 2021 in Fairfax, Virginia at INOVA Fairfax Hospital at the age of 35, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife, Jessica Ittayem; young son, Matin Nidal Ittayem; parents Mashhur and Danuta Ittayem; older sister, Nida Ittayem Amal, and older brother, Hakim Ittayem; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and friends.

Nidal had a need for speed. He enjoyed fast cars and motorcycles. He loved the Nissan 240SX and racing. Nidal loved going to the beach, hiking mountains, trying new foods, dancing, taking long road trips spontaneously, working on cars, and spending time with family.

Nidal met his best friend and love of his life Jessica Acuna, in 2005. He was lucky to share over 15 years with Jessica. He married the love of his life in 2014. They bought and renovated a house to make the home of their dreams. Their lives were blessed and completed with the birth of their son, Matin, in 2019. He was most proud of his son, whom he adored and courageously brought into this world with his own hands at home, an experience of a lifetime.

Nidal battled all of life’s obstacles with courage, hope, and determination, including cancer. He was stubborn and determined, but his positive attitude was unwavering even in the darkest hours. He had an infectious smile that lit up the room. His words were always encouraging. He wanted everyone to be happy. He was a witty jokester and known for making everyone laugh. As a child, he was full of energy and fearless, and those traits carried on throughout his life with an energy that is undying.

The family will receive friends at the CUnningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 3pm to 7pm

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross (redcross.org) as there is a shortage of blood, or Believe Big (believebig.org), a non-profit integrative cancer therapy center.
