Peggy Edgerton Fields, long-time Alexandria resident, died after a short illness on March 26, 2024, surrounded by her family. Her husband, William Fields, predeceased her in 2008. Peggy is survived by her children Mark (Vicki), Karen, Kirk, Bret (Mary Ann) and Matt (Elizabeth), 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Peggy graduated from George Washington High School in 1946 and afterwards worked for the Capitol Transit Company until her marriage in 1951. As an almost empty-nester, Peggy worked as an administrative assistant for the City of Alexandria until her retirement in 1994. Peggy was very devoted to her family and her extended circle of friends.
