Roselyn Flaum Radcliffe of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away on March 9, 2025. Born July 21, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the only daughter of Isadore and Molly Flaum. Roselyn is survived by her five children, Patrice (and John), Susan (and Gary), Elizabeth (and Keith), Frank (and Judy) and Mary (and Patrick), 11 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren and multiple nephews and nieces. Roselyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Harold and Eddie Flaum, grandson Luke Clemens Bartlett, ex-husband and the father of her 5 children, Franklin Leibsly and ex-husband James Radcliffe and beloved pets.
Roselyn lived a full and rich life filled with many adventures. She exercised her entire life, including jazzercise, walking, bowling, gardening and lifting weights, serving as an excellent role model to her children, even enjoying aqua aerobics until a few months ago. She raised her five children with strength, humor, organization and a keen sense of adventure. There are many memories of camping, boating, crabbing, and much laughter. She was always one with a cool and calm head in the face of the many bumps and bruises of her children, always there to provide first aid and a kiss. Roselyn was a loving and generous person to her children, grandchildren and the world at large.
Roselyn often gave of her time, energy and resources to those with less. She was a Red Cross volunteer for many years providing first aid at multiple events. Roselyn also volunteered at local Alexandria elementary schools reading to children, Reagan National Airport providing assistance to travelers, docent at Mt Vernon sharing history of George Washington’s estate, Alexandria Inova Hospital volunteer, Girl Scout volunteer and a staunch supporter of animal rights. She retired as an analyst from the IRS, even filing her own taxes until she was 92 years old.
Her family will miss her great laugh, sense of humor, excellent advice, listening ear, and generous spirit.
Roselyn will be buried next to her grandson Luke at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick, MD. The graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 1:00 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held directly afterwards in Alexandria, Va. In lieu of flowers, please hug a loved one in memory of our mother.
