Rosie Ballad Bullock, born in Quezon City, Philippines on September 5th, 1959, was the daughter of the late Alejandro Ballad and Rufina Ballad. She departed this earthly life on Christmas Eve, December 24th, 2022 at the age of 63, after a long battle with cancer. She was one of nine children, and was raised in a loving home that emphasized the importance of family. As a young woman, she continued her education at Angeles University in Pamapanga before getting married and starting her family. She moved to the U.S. in the early 90’s, where for many years she remained the only member of her family to reside outside of the Philippines.

Rose was an amazing and dedicated mother to her two children: Marina Bullock and Christina Bullock and a doting grandmother to her three grand-dogs: Champ, Bella and Roxy. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Rigor Ballad, Sammy Samson, Benjamin Ballad, Leima Ballad, Jimmy Ballad and a large extended family. She is preceded by her father Alejandro Ballad, her mother Rufina Ballad, and her brothers Alex Ballad, Milo Ballad, and Roy Ballad.

Rose loved her daughters fiercely. She devoted her life to loving and nurturing them. She gave them the gift of unconditional love, pride, and support. The impact their mother has made on their lives has been immeasurable. Rose was everything that a mother should be and more.

Rose was a selfless woman who was always there for her family. She enjoyed visiting her home in the Philippines over the years, and regularly shipped balikbayan boxes full of food and gifts back home to her family. Some of her most passionate moments were when she made plans to build and expand her house in the Philippines, and built homes for each of her siblings. Rose always made it a priority to provide for her family back home, even during times when she had so little herself.

Rose had a love and skill for cooking, which was universally appreciated by her friends and family. Rose was known for preparing and putting out impressive spreads of food at family parties. One of her goals before she departed was to cook a variety of Filipino dishes for the friends, family, and medical staff who had helped get her through her most recent recovery with cancer.

Rose had a magnetic personality and effortlessly made friends wherever she went. She loved gathering with friends and was the life of every party. Her family and friends will remember her for her laugh and sense of humor, her receptiveness to a new adventure and her love for karaoke, among many other attributes.

Rose was a fighter. Although cancer certainly did not define her, the courage and resiliency she displayed since her first diagnosis in 2010, and following multiple recurrences over the years, was admirable and unmatched. She overcame metastasis to her lung, bone, and brain, when the numbers should have said otherwise. Her determined spirit was such an inspiration to many of her loved ones. She left this earth fighting and unafraid.

Rose was a faith-driven woman. Her relationship with the Lord was the driving factor of who she was, and how she treated the people in her life. She lived life by Christ’s principles. As a woman of faith, Rose wished to have a celebration of the immortality promised to all by Christ. She would love to be remembered with stories that celebrate what was good and blessed in her life.

It is without any doubt Rose was loved by so many people. She will truly be missed.
