The Story began on June 21, 1951, for Sheku Tejan Koroma, also known as Uncle TJ and Sheku to many. Sheku was raised in Kenema,Sierra Leone by his uncle Alhaji Tarawally. In his early teens,
he moved to Freetown for better opportunities. While in Freetown, he resided with his late Uncle and late Aunt, Ibrahim Sorie Muray Koroma and Haja Jonta Koroma, respectively. After completing
his studies, Sheku earned a scholarship to study in the United States.
In 1974, Sheku traveled to the United States to pursue his education, were he went on to achieve his B.S.C in Accounting from Strayer University in 1977. Sheku then continued to further his education at the University of the District Columbia in 1983 by earning his Master’s in Business Administration. In 1975 Sheku married the Love of his Life, Aminata Bundu. Sheku and Aminata have been married for 45 years. During their journey together they raised four sons: Mohamed, Tejan Jr, Gibril, and Abraham.
Sheku Tejan held the position as a Tax Examiner at the Department of Employment Services from 2008 to present. He was highly respected by his peers and also as a charismatic leader, advocate, mentor, motivator, and a great friend to many. When we think of greatness, Sheku epitomized greatness!
His compassion, generosity, honor, dignity, and respect were some qualities that Sheku not only held in high esteem but practiced every day during his time with us here on earth. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Ultimately, Sheku Tejan spent much time on earth uplifting,motivating, calming, and loving the many people he crossed paths with.
On Monday August 31, 2020, Sheku departed his earthly life to begin his new Journey with the Lord. Sheku is survived by his wife Aminata, his four children Mohamed, Tejan Jr, Gibril, and Abraham. His Grandchildren Isiah, Kayla, Amina, Kyerin, Caiden,
and daughter in-law Makeda. His Siblings Osman, Ibrahim, Sanusie, Lamin, Ibrahim, Mustapha, Ibrahim, Junta, Hawa, Ms. Sally, Amie, Masio, Sarrah. Other relatives Koroma, Bundu, Fonti,
Tarawally, Kanu, Sillah, Karim, Konteh, Conteh, Kabba, Kamara, Dainkehs, Turays, and Sesays.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Mount Comfort Cemetery, 6600 South Kings Highway, Alexandria, VA 22306.
