Thania Ruffin, born on November 26th, 1961, in Panama to Mercedes Williams and Wilfredo Moodie, passed away on September 24th, 2023. She was a beloved member of a loving family, joining five brothers and sisters: Xenia Moodie, Celina Burrell, Wilfredo Moodie Jr., Pablo Moodie, and Felix Alberto Moodie.
Thania’s life was marked by the joys of motherhood, and she was blessed with three beautiful children: Thania Maria, Alex Ruffin, and Brian Ruffin. She also had the privilege of being a grandmother to Harley and Celina Miller. Thania’s love extended beyond her immediate family as she leaves behind her devoted husband, James Ruffin, whom she married in December 1997. Their union also brought her two stepchildren, James Ruffin Jr. and Angela Beamon, as well as another cherished grandchild, Darius Beamon.
Thania dedicated many years of her life to Bailey’s Health Center, where she became known for her unwavering compassion and empathy. Her acts of kindness touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Thania was also a devoted Catholic; Saint Jude was her favorite Saint. Thania would wear the color green every Wednesday in Saint Jude’s honor. She devotedly prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet every day at 3:00pm.
Thania imparted invaluable life lessons to her children. Her son, Alex Ruffin, will forever celebrate his mother’s memory by embracing her teachings and maintaining his strong faith in Christ. Brian Ruffin learned from his mother the immeasurable value of family bonds and the power of prayer. Thania Maria will forever be grateful for her mother, who served as the glue that held their family together through thick and thin.
Thania Ruffin’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her legacy of love, faith, compassion, and unity will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough
to have her in their lives. May Thania’s soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory bring comfort and strength to all who mourn her passing.
