William Alexander Harlowe, Sr. (Bill) 87, of Annandale, VA passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 31, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving wife of 61 years and his children. He was born March 13, 1931 to the late Ellen E. and Ernest L. Harlow, in Alexandria, VA. Dad would often find humor in letting people know that he was born on Friday the 13th. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and then met the love of his life, Joan, after his service. His life was dedicated to his family and sharing his love of the Arts, especially for Opera. William loved to sing and was dubbed “The Voice” in his youth and would often serenade Joan.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Muriel (Winquist) and children; William Harlowe Jr. and wife Kelly; Dennis J. Harlowe; Michael E. Harlowe and wife Karin; James R. Harlowe and wife April; Keleigh A. Harlowe; Scott T. Harlowe and wife Jill; Stephen V. Harlowe and husband Chris; daughter-in-law Colleen Bernier; along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Family will receive guests Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 6pm to 9pm at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron St. Alex. VA 22314. A Life Celebration service will be held at the funeral home at 11am Thursday, April 5, 2018, interment will follow with military honors at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA at 1pm.
