William A. Martini, Sr., 85, of Alexandria, died November 27, 2018 at Sunrise of Springfield. He was born January 1, 1933 to the late Thomas P. and Geneva A. (Zehring) Martini. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Phillip and Robert Martini. He is survived by his children, Deborah L. Willett (Edward), William A. Martini, Jr. (Patricia), Thomas T. Martini, Paul T. Martini (Sharon), and John F. Martini (Andrea); grandchildren, Danitta, Tripp, Alicia, Angela, Renee, Michelle, Melissa, Michael, and Deanna; and great grandchildren, Colby, Owen, Malley, JJ, Kaylynn, Declan, and Hailey.
Mr. Martini served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1953 aboard the USS William Seiverling (DE-441) during the Korean war. Upon honorable discharge from the service, he became an HVAC technician and later began his own business. He was a long time member of the Old Dominion Boat Club, and The Eagles Club of Alexandria. He was affectionately referred to as the “Governor of Mount Comfort Cemetery”, where he volunteered for many years and made connections with visitors by handing out candy.
The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am, Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron St. Alex. VA 22314. A Life Celebration Service will begin at 11am, followed by interment at Mount Comfort Cemetery, Alex. VA.
